Activ Camps Ltd is a friendly and lively company running multi-activity camps for children aged 4-14 across London. Our seasonal staff teams are full of energetic and motivated people who are passionate about providing the very best childcare experience.
Activity Instructors work to ensure every child has a safe, inclusive, active, and fun experience at Activ Camps! We are looking for confident, caring, and positive people who bring lots of energy and enjoyment to the children in our care.
Reports to: Site Manager and Assistant Site Manager
Hours: 08:15 - 17:00 (Monday-Friday)
Daily pay (age dependent): £102.56 (21 Plus) , £77.12 (18-20)
Contract: Temporary (School holidays)
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and run activity sessions in accordance with the operating procedures set out by Activ Camps, with a proactive and diligent approach to safety and inclusion.
- Actively participate in all activities, including swimming sessions where available.
- Support the inclusion, safety, and well-being of all children.
- Responsible for safeguarding the welfare of every child on camp, reporting any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Motivate and encourage all children to participate in the full range of activities, adapting sessions according to the children's age and ability.
- Effectively manage timings, following the daily timetable to ensure the smooth running of the camp.
- Manage children’s behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies.
- Clearly communicate with Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers, colleagues and, on occasion, parents/carers.
Essential Attributes
- 18+ years old and must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS Check issued within 3 months, or on the DBS Update Service (we can complete it on your behalf at a cost of £48).
- Ability to work responsibly, prioritising the welfare and safety of the children at all times.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues.
- Enthusiastic and caring with high engagement levels with children.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to confidently lead activities for groups of children.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism at all times.
- Reliable and trustworthy, with excellent time management.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working with children and/or young people including QTS, SEND experience.
- Coaching and/or activity and sports specific qualifications.
- Ofsted approved, 12-hour paediatric first aid training qualification.
